Tim Goodacre of Dundas will be among the 3,000-plus Special Olympics athletes from 112 countries travelling to PyeongChang, South Korea, later this month to participate in the 2013 Special Olympics World Winter Games. Goodacre will compete in figure skating.
According to the Team Canada website, Goodacre has been involved with Special Olympics for 13 years and is excited about his second world games. He previously competed in the 2009 event in Boise, Idaho.
Goodacre’s heroes are Canadian figure skaters Scott Moyer and Tessa Virtue because they are champions, and he recently had the opportunity to sit with them at an awards dinner.
Outside of sports, Goodacre works as a gym cleaner at McMaster University and volunteers at the YMCA and Dollarama.
His goal in South Korea is simple: to win first place.
