Rebuilding the boardwalk

McMaster Outdoor Recreation and the Royal Botanical Gardens have partnered with the community and Councillor Brian McHattie in a fundraising effort to replace a boardwalk near Princess Point in Cootes Paradise.

The groups are asking residents to contribute to the board sale. A board can be purchased for $10, with a name engraved to signify each individual’s support and contribution.
All proceeds will fund the project, along with helping with RBG stewardship costs.

Board purchases can be made at Bryan Prince Booksellers in Westdale (cash and cheque only), or visit the David Braley Athletics Centre on the McMaster campus, 905-5525-9140, Ext 24464.

The groups also teamed last year to build a boardwalk along the Caleb’s Walk Trail in Cootes Paradise. Volunteers gathered Dec. 1 to help provide a safe, enjoyable hike and replace plants that were destroyed by the damaged trail.
