Dundas Real McCoys have geared up for the Allan Cup Hockey stretch drive with the addition of three veteran players to their lineup for tonight’s game at J.L. Grightmire Arena. Game time is 7:45 p.m.
General manager Don Robertson announced earlier today the McCoys have signed veteran National Hockey League defenceman Jay McKee and former American Hockey League defenceman Jeff MacMillan, and re-signed goaltender Jeff Maund.
McKee, a native of Kingston, played 802 regular season game in the NHL with the Buffalo Sabres, St. Louis Blues and Pittsburgh Penguins from 1995-96 and 2009-10. He also appeared in 60 NHL playoff games.
MacMillan played five seasons in the AHL with the Utah Grizzlies, Hartford Wolf Pack and Syracuse Crunch and had a brief tour of duty with the NHL Dallas Stars. He won a Memorial Cup with the Oshawa Generals in 1996-97. Maund played 22 games for McCoys during the past two seasons.
“There isn’t a team in hockey that does not want to add a big strong defenceman, and at our level, McKee is the perfect fit as we plan to contend this year and go hard next year when we play host the Allan Cup Tournament,” said Robertson.
