Linc to Future with All-Star Jazz

The Hamilton All Star Jazz Band will play a special encore performance on May 11, entitled Linc to the Future.

The concert will celebrate the life of Lincoln M. Alexander, MP, former Ontario Lieutenant Governor and patron of the Hamilton All Star Jazz Band. Linc’s wife and family will be in attendance for the trip down memory lane.

While he was alive, Alexander loved Big Band music and rarely missed a show within driving distance. Songs in the show were personally picked by Alexander for the original concert that was performed in the spring of 2011. Each song will be introduced by Alexander through the magic of videos that were recorded for the original show.

From Basie, to Ellington to Linc’s personal favourite, Satin Doll Dr. Russ Weil, founder and director of the Hamilton All Star Jazz Band has described this concert as “a romp through the best of 1940s jazz”.

The concert will be held at Redeemer University College Auditorium, 777 Garner Rd. E., Ancaster, on Saturday May 11 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 ($20 for seniors and students) and are available at or at Cavallo Nero Restaurant at 370 Wilson Street East in Ancaster, 905 648-8888.
