Sixty-five players enjoyed two rounds of disc golf in seasonally warm temperatures but braved gusting winds up to 40 km/h during the Christie Lake Ice Bowl, Jan. 19 at the Christie Lake Conservation Area disc golf course.
The annual event takes place throughout North America to raise money and food for food banks, as well as to promote the sport of disc golf.
A monetary donation of $825 was raised for the Salvation Army.
All food items — 751 pounds — will be donated to the Salvation Army Dundas to support food bank services.
Tournament director Dustin Fournier thanks participants for their generous donations and also Christie Lake Conservation Area for hosting the event.
The sport of disc golf is one of the fastest growing sports in the world. There are eight disc golf courses within an hour’s drive from greater Hamilton.
