This letter is for the Hamilton MPP candidates.
Why do we need an expensive LRT? Hamilton is no longer an industrial city, it is now a bedroom suburb of Toronto and Mississauga. Our industry emigrated to China, Japan, etc. We do not have to move tens of thousands of workers to and from work within Hamilton, just the commuters to Toronto.
What we need is bus lanes on King and Main streets, express buses, stopping only at major intersections, GO bus terminals in the east end and on the Mountain.
Most importantly, move ownership of Highway 407 back to the public. Force our politicians to drive to and from Toronto on the QEW rather than the 407 during rush hours (and weekends) and realize that the public monies spent to build the 407 should result in the public using it without the usury tolls of the private owners of the 407.
Until we get back this vital highway and implement simple expensiveness transit solutions, and not an LRT, I will vote for the party that stands and works for these most important points.
