Rebekah Patenaude, front left, celebrates her 16th birthday with family members and Fortinos Eastgate Square franchisee Tony Simeone last Saturday.
The Cardinal Newman Catholic Secondary School Grade 10 student and her family had two reasons to celebrate, as they recently received a $3,000 grant from President’s Choice Children’s Charity. The funds went toward installing a chairlift in their home to improve accessibility for Rebekah, who was born with cerebral palsy.
The PC Children’s Charity aims to help children with physical or developmental disabilities and strives to make a difference for families who apply to the program.
“For Rebekah, it means more freedom and independence, as the chairlift allows her to have access to the entire house now,” mother Carolyn said. “Words can’t describe how grateful we are.”
